Maisy Celebrates the Release of ‘Sincerely,’

On September 28th, Orlando indie band Maisy brought an intimate, high-energy show to Stardust to celebrate the release of their EP ‘Sincerely,’. The event, held in collaboration with Ghouls and Ghouls- a local booking group supporting the scene- featured performances from Default Friends, Suisside, and Urban Sprawl.

As the sun went down, the beloved coffee-shop and frequented third place of many in the creative community, filled up with friends, fans, and curious newcomers. The air buzzed with an energy and warmth only a tightly knit local creative community can generate.

The opening bands, all staples of the community, brought a vibrant electricity into the room as reflected in the crowd's lively engagement. We sang, we cheered, we danced and we moshed- the music connecting us all.

A little after 10 PM Maisy took to the stage to play ‘Sincerely,’ in full. The air filled with the sweet, innocent chords of the opening track “Sum Lovin’” as the audience drew closer to the stage and closer together. Lead singer Reyna’s honeyed vocals shined, charismatically conveying the playful longing in the lyrics.

The band draws their guitar-driven, dreamy sound from a variety of influences, including: Title Fight, Sweet Pill, Joyce Manor, Smashing Pumpkins, and Hum. Their peers within Orlando’s music scene have also left a lasting impact on their art. “We love bands like Memory Well, Walking Blue, Default Friends, and Suissidee,” they said. “When we first came to the scene we looked up to these bands and definitely took some inspiration. At the beginning we wanted to sound like the bands we saw locally and I think that definitely formed our songs and genre now.”

When asked about the inspiration behind ‘Sincerely,’ they credited Memory Well. “We loved the branding and the aesthetic of Memory Well’s ‘Almost Real’ EP, and we wanted to create something just as striking. While it is really different sonically and aesthetically, seeing someone local do something of such quality was very inspiring.”

Above all, Maisy is driven by authenticity. “Best thing we have learned is to make music that’s fun to play. Don’t try to make stuff that is “good” that will most of the time end up bad. If you make and play something you love, nothing can beat that authenticity, and I think people will see that.” This light-hearted, open creative energy shone throughout their set.

The night was a testament to what makes the local scene so special: artists supporting each other, creating something real, and leaving space for everyone to experience some sense of connection. With ‘Sincerely,’ Maisy isn't just finding their voice- they’re helping define a sound and contributing to a community of creators and dreamers.
